Broilers in cages on pasture - Our method

Our broilers live in Salatin-pens on pasture and are moved daily to fresh grass, giving them the opportunity to graze and eat insects. The cages protect the birds from weather and predators, while serving as a hygiene measure that reduces disease risk. It also allows us to carefully monitor the birds' impact on the land. The feed is grain-based, soy-free, and as low in polyunsaturated fatty acids as possible. The broilers are slaughtered on the farm and sold directly to customers from the farm or through REKO rings.

Regenerative agriculture drives energy to people, soil, and animals

A thriving animal eats healthy plants from fertile soil, and thus we are what we eat and what our food has eaten. We strive to create healthy soil that provides nutritious pasture for our animals and healthy meat for us. Agriculture must benefit the soil, animals, and humans simultaneously. Through regenerative agriculture we focus on energy production at all levels, as energy builds structure and complexity, and thus also health and fertility.

About Vyrdegård

We are Janne, Elina, and our little daughter Linnea. We live on our farm in Billnäs with our sheep, ducks, chickens, cat, and ferrets. We want to manage the farm and the animals in a way that provides what we need for self-sufficiency, and then make a living by selling the surplus and reinvesting in the business and our family. One day, we hope to have a fruit savanna and our own dairy cow — but one step at a time.
